Liz began playing volleyball at the age of 15 in Etobicoke, Ontario, at Richview Collegiate Institute. Influenced by positive high school and club team coaches, Liz went on to play at Division I American University in the Patriot League for four years on a full scholarship. Liz was an integral part of the AU team which won four consecutive Patriot League Championships and went on to compete in the NCAA DIV I Championship each year. Academically, Liz was on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll four consecutive years and graduated cum laude from American University with a BS in Business Administration in 2007. At American, Liz developed into a strong leader with big goals which quickly transferred to her love for beach volleyball.
Liz began her beach career in 2007 at the Canadian National Championships with a 7th place finish. Liz is improving her finishes every year and her international ranking as she continues to compete on the FIVB world tour. Liz finished the 2009 season with a silver medal at the National Championships. Winning the Canadian Beach Volleyball Championshipo in Toronto for 2010 was a milestone for the team. The Maloney/Bansley team are the second ranked Canadian team in the FIVB world rankings at #48 out of 250 teams. The 2010 season wrapped up with two Main Draw appearances in the final FIVB events of the season in Sanya, China and Phuket, Thailand.
